Missy Ellenberger notes that when it comes to addressing student mental health, schools alone cannot tackle this issue but require collaboration with a number of partners.


Calendar changes: 2/18 will be regular day, 2/21 remote day moves to 2/24, and 2/25 and 4/29 are added as remote days to allow for training and professional development.


Chair McCoy thanked Fisher for her work and expressed their support of affordable housing. She noted consensus of the Board to keep the land and said they would entertain other proposals in the future.


Board member Jackson expressed he does not support the proposal as the land is used by BHS so regularly.


Board member Griffin noted the original intention of workforce and affordable housing developments and that the current proposal does not fit the original intention to benefit both educators and students.


Board member Domokur says she cannot declare it surplus as she visited the property and experienced the pride students had in it and how it was used.


Vice-Chair Kiviniemi noted that few to none of teachers would qualify for income requirements of the development and was unaware of the extent of its use by BHS.


Chair McCoy expressed appreciation for interest in the property but noted it was hard for her to declare it surplus when the school is currently using it.


The Board attorney reminded the Board that the property must first be declared as surplus and unfit for school use. He then reminded the Board of the upset bid process requirements.


Realtor Amy Fisher let the Board know only one of the adjacent neighbors accepted her invitation to see the development plans. She also noted the development is under the threshold to require a traffic study.
