Who knows what the children have seen on the news or heard at home this week, or over the coming weeks. When we get back to school we must show them the value of tolerance, inclusivity, empathy and respect. Right from day one, in every classroom. Show them what really matters.

Nigel farage wants you to think that Britain has an immigration problem. It doesn't. Britain had a problem with millionaires hoarding wealth, egged on by politicians and the press. Britain has a problem with racism. Britain has a @Nigel_Farage problem. RT if you agree.

I’ve uploaded my Rosenshine’s Principles CPD booklet to my google drive (link in pinned tweet) ☺️ Thanks to @teacherhead @olicav and @KateJones_teach for writing such great books that hugely help to bridge the gap between educational research and application to the classroom! 👏🏼

Self care because no one can pour from an empty cup #wellbeingmatters

A critical reminder as we embark on another week: It is nearly impossible to be fully present & empathetic when we are anxious. Prioritizing #selfcare and your own wellbeing allows you to show up for colleagues, students, and families. Self-care isn't selfish.

As the students return to school they are potentially going to be anxious about many things. We have the power to lesson their fears about academic recovery by managing the language we use around them. #moveforward #teachinginapandemic #positivelanguage

Don’t tell me I’m behind. Don’t tell me I’ll be held back for ever. Don’t tell me I need longer at school. Don’t tell me I’m lost. Tell me I can do it. Tell me you’ll help me. Tell me you believe in me. Tell me we’ll do it together. Yours sincerely, The children.

Reading Teaching in the Online Classroom - “the power of consistent, familiar procedures is doubled when we teach online” Consistent and clear procedures support parents as well as students and maintains the pace, energy and purpose of each lesson.

2/2 Lagging assessment may result in missing out on misunderstanding in the moment. Real-time assessment might slow the pace & can be vulnerable to tech issues. But if we combine all 3 with careful planning, we might just hobble through this & have a reasonable idea of s progress

The challenges of assessment are hugely multiplied in the online classroom. Closing the assessment loop is essential but fraught with limitations. Implicit assessment - SA against a model relies on faith in the students actually doing it & doing it well. 1/2

In a regular classroom environment how do you recognise the difference between ‘I taught it’ & ‘They learned it’? #assessmentforlearning
