If Tulane went 13-0, finished top 12, and still got blown out in the CFP, there would be way less animosity toward them because at least they earned their way in. The whole reason for this toxic discourse is the perceived injustice of putting them in over more deserving P4 teams.

CFB isn’t like any other league.
CFB media and fans are obsessed with the idea of ‘best’. You don’t hear that in other leagues, they talk about champions. CFB though had media choose its champion for nearly 100 years. That mentality is a plague that I’m not sure CFB will ever fully overcome.
