Governments the world over are very inefficient at just about everything. However there are some things only gov't is in a position to do . . . defense, roads and bridges, print money etc. We should get back to expecting them to do those things well and drop the others.

Jesus was most certainly not a Republican. Feed the poor. Heal the sick. Welcome the stranger. Love thy neighbour. If those values are called “socialist” today, maybe the labels changed, not Jesus.
Actually, capitalism is an expression of freedom, while socialism favors a big, oppressive government.

Today's view from the Via. Once upon a time, there would be a regular coterie of people attending their neighborhood churches. Now, not so much.

My wife and I had a brilliant idea: Instead of watching the same Christmas movies, we started looking up Xmas episodes of old TV shows. Happy Days. Little House. Bewitched. Gunsmoke. Dick Van Dyke. And, of course, Mr. Bean.
This seems to be a common theme among liberals on my feed today. Other people should work, and they should be taken care of while they sit on the porch.
