1936 ~ 2023
A picture perfect night! 🤩 This #PictureoftheDay is sponsored by @lucchese1883! 📸: @disasterfilm 📍 Illumination Sensation
An interesting look into some of the original attractions of the 1936 Centennial Exposition in Fair Park. This is a fold-out map from an original centennial souvenir guide in our collection.
Quite possibly one of the most photogenic buildings I have ever come across 🤠 It exists for golden hour.
Did you know that this small restaurant space in the Food's Building at Fair Park is original to the 1936 Centennial Exposition? Originally Gebhardt's Chili Powder, it is still being used as a restaurant during the fair to this day with the original signage still visible.
If you pay close attention, you can sometimes spot wonderful little traces of how much work is being poured into saving Fair Park History. Original exposition mural restoration-in-progress. Foods building (near the butter sculpture) #StateFairofTexas @HallOfStateTx
This is John Cotton, the last director of the Fair Park Planetarium. He worked there for 48 years when it closed in 2012. When the Planetarium was forced to close for good, John saved its almost 60 years of history from destruction. #FairPark #Dallas

This is what happens when we let Little Big Tex proofread, but we’re so glad YOU’RE here! ❤️
Oh boy! No one told us it was Archives month. Should we get the storage array a cake? 🎂
This #AmericanArchivesMonth, we’re spotlighting the people who have taken a deep dive into the 13 billion records of the National Archives and found…THEMSELVES! Or at least, their families. 🧵
Having a RAWR-some time at the State Fair of Texas! 🦖This #PictureoftheDay is sponsored by our good friends at @Lucchese1883! #POD 📸: @joshseff (on Instagram)
Fair Park patrons can now find Walt Davis' fantastic book on the Natural History Museum for sale at the Fair Park Visitor's Center by the lagoon, along with lots of cool Fair Park gear! Come check it out!
The lagoon walk outside the former Science Place and Natural History Museum / Visitors Center has been converted into a wonderful prehistoric dinosaur safari! Such a fantastic place to visit during the Fair! @StateFairOfTX #StateFairofTexas
We'll be wandering around here all week folks! You can probably find us with or faces pressed up against the Science Place windows, at a Fletcher's stand, or somewhere in-between! #StateFairofTexas @StateFairOfTX @FletchersDogs
If music played whenever you walked, what would it be?
