Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! At MCPS we are proud of our roots. Vilma Najera was born in Washington, D.C. to a Salvadoran mother and a Guatemalan father. Vilma is extremely proud of her parents' story of struggle and victory.
Barbara Escobar is the Principal of Neelsville Middle School. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She believes education is important because it serves as the instrument that ignites curiosity, reinforces determination and unlocks limitless opportunities.
Lavina Carrillo is the acting principal of Rock Creek Terrace Elementary School. She is proud of her diverse culture with Panamanian and Indian origins. Carrillo believes education is important because it represents empowerment, where one can be a change agent.
