The UK Government have missed their teacher recruitment target for the past 7 years and over 50% of new teachers are planning to leave the profession #crisis
So, I have been pondering. I love my job, it has been an extremely challenging year but I feel honoured to have had the chance to lead my school and sacrificed maternity leave to do it. To those experienced heads, what is your number 1 tip for longevity in role? #headteacherchat

Racism in any form, in any guise, in any way is not acceptable to anybody! Lets work together, lets learn and lets overcome ignorance and hatred.
Good teachers don’t necessarily make good mentors. Schools should be selective when they’re picking mentors for trainees. I tried to quit mid-way through my training year because of the experience I had with mine.

Absolutely! This includes all the wonderful teachers who have worked hard to call pupils, provide remote learning and go into school to support key worker pupils and vulnerable students
As we think about life beyond the lockdown, let’s not forget the debt we owe all those low paid but selfless workers who risked their lives on a daily basis to get us here. Let’s ensure that the low paid key workers we once applauded, are soon well valued, well paid key workers!

Why do UK schools find it harder to open safely after a pandemic? Because our classrooms are crowded, schools have little outdoor space, teachers have too many pupils to care for. We see massive obstacles to recovery due to intrinsic mismanagement of health & education by govt.
