It’s great to see some our findings cited in this piece!
Silicon Valley’s allure remains powerful for many students, but there are also students whose appreciation for the technology industry is tempered by concerns over ethics and corporate cultures in the Valley. stanforddaily.com/2021/09/19/con…
This is a fun surprise... I made the front page of Hacker News!
Undergraduate students surveyed for this @TechHistProject report ranked @Wikipedia second place in positive societal impact among technologies and tech organizations. techhistory.stanford.edu/report/
Skepticism also seems to be concentrated more in certain communities For example, students who were on full financial aid had more negative opinions for every org on this list. Same with students who didn't identify as being "in tech":
The project surveyed more than 900 Stanford undergrads & found that Palantir's rep is tanked—it has the worst ratio of positive to negative views of any company. Almost no students felt positively about Palantir.
The report details how the ethical & societal implications of tech became a larger focus across Stanford Our survey of 900+ randomly selected undergrads revealed students' sentiments about what orgs and technologies have a positive or negative impact on society, on average
Hey hey! So proud to see @Wikipedia ranked as one of the technology projects having the most positive impact on society. After all, that’s exactly what it is here to do.

The Stanford Tech History Project released its final report on Monday about how tech at Stanford has changed over the past decade I had the honor of co-directing this large & incredible team over the past 9 months with @juliaingram_ Here's a thread with some of my thoughts
Enjoyed reading the report of @Stanford's tech history in last decade & about the transformation of what was the career dev center into BEAM during my time 2013 to 2018. Proud of the impact. Thx @TechHistProject for a great & accurate portrayal of history. techhistory.stanford.edu/report

Our team was fortunate to speak with over 80 individuals with expertise in different parts of Stanford's tech ecosystem. We are grateful to the individuals who shared their insights with our team and informed our analysis
Socially responsible tech rose into focus over Stanford's last decade: more than ever, students today care about where they work and what they do. We're excited to see the advocacy of Reboot community members highlighted in @TechHistProject's new report: techhistory.stanford.edu/report/
Thank you so much @ruthstarkman — we are very fortunate to have your support
