Mr. Gill @opmstech offered his Ss an opportunity to take the FAA Recreational Drone Pilot exam. Already 50 OPMS Ss have become FAA certified Recreational Drone Pilots! This means that the Ss have the basic understanding to safely fly their drones for non-commercial purposes.

Another thing I like about purposeful, engaging #STEM activities - they are contagious! 🔥When one group experiences integration, others want to as well! 4th graders learned the importance of armor and other animal adaptations today. The APEX predator was well armed (green one)!

Four groups of 7th graders competed to design a sign for our district Special Ed Dept. That dept chose the winner and those students cut, weeded, and masked their design. Today, they put up the finished product. So proud! #studentwork @opmstech @op_middleschool @OPSchools

This week in Mr. Erlandson’s woodworking class Ss have been learning various tree related topics. Mr. Erlandson dubbed it “tree week.” To culminate “tree week” and to celebrate Arbor Day students planted their own trees in pots that they are able to take home and keep.

AE teachers: I found a decent web based sim that works on Chromebooks called @GeoFlightSim. I set up 4 missions for students to learn to fly. Linked are mission descriptions and video tutorials. @Edpuzzles are publicly searchable if you want them! drive.google.com/drive/folders/…

Today, Ss will use Google Maps, @Desmos, and the @MathigonOrg Polypad to find the height of a parking lot lightpole on our campus. Normally we would do this using a hypsometer, but this is a pretty decent option for remote learning.
