Hi X! I created this account to help provide tips and tricks for online safety and data protection. My hope is to help others keep safe on their journey through the web!


Don't want sites to use cookies to track you? Depending on your browser, you can customize what sites you want to allow and block the use of cookies! For example, Mozilla allows you to customize your tracking experience. Check your browsers settings to see what options you have.


What's is a web cookie? Data is stored in a cookie on your web browser to provide a site with your data from a previous session. This could be a saved password or previous sites you have visited. Essential cookies only use data required for that specific site


If you receive an email with a suspicious link, you can check the actual url by hovering your mouse over the link. It will show the real webpage it's taking you to on the bottom left of your browser window. If you don't recognize the URL, don't click the link!

A lot of people say "Who would hack me? I don't have anything to hide!". However, most people have access to something that no one else does. Like a bank account, or a work email. This makes anyone worth hacking and is the reason why we should know how to protect our data.


This is a good example of how a site can take users data without letting them know. More reason to be proactive with protecting your own data!
