I don't know about the rest of you guys, but my students are ready for summer vacation. I found this article online that shares tips for increasing student engagement. Hope it helps you all. d2l.com/blog/7-tips-fo…
It's so important to have a growth mindset. No matter the challenge or struggle, students should never feel that they can't do anything. They just need to try it in a different way, practice more, or take a break and try again. Every student is capable of being the best.
Q1: What aspect of mindset do you think is most important or helpful for students to have? #CultureEd @MatthewXJoseph
The GUILTY verdict in the #DerekChauvinTrial means so much to so many of us. Tears of joy, man. Tears of joy.
Kids want to tell you about their lives. They really do. Like, really. They want you to listen, to take interest, and to make comments about what they say. Do that. #RelationshipsMatter
Guilty. Now what happens at school tomorrow? What should educators do? What should educators say?
Most people I know want a leader who... 1. Listens to them. 2. Believes in them. 3. Supports and defends them. 4. Makes time for them. 5. Is honest with them.
Asking for feedback can be scary! One thing I do is give students sticky notes and have them answer any feedback questions or additional comments. I then encourage the whole class to come up and post them on the whiteboard. Students remain anonymous and I learn how I can improve.
What's your favorite way to ask Ss for feedback? T @MonteSyrie uses these forms to find out how learners feel in his classroom. #tlap #TeachPos
Students are never too young to start learning. We can start modeling a justice mindset from the day they are born. I found this article that promotes social justice projects in class to raise students' awareness about issues we are facing today. edutopia.org/blog/social-ju…
Q3: When is it appropriate to start cultivating a justice mindset in kids? #CrazyPLN #LetsK12Better
I think as teachers we are role models for our students. If we want students to have a justice mindset we have to model justice for them.
Q4: How can families, educators, and mentors create and support environments that cultivate a justice mindset in kids? (share your favorite resources too) #CrazyPLN #LetsK12Better
SeeSaw, Padlet, and Flipgrid are some of my favorites! And they are user-friendly.
Q5: What are your favorite tools and resources to encourage your student's creativity? #NearpodChat
Yes, I totally agree! That's why I think it's unfair to assess students using only one way (aka tests). Students should be taught in different ways and tested multiple times in different ways as well!
Children that didn’t get it the 1st time need it a new way, possibly a better way, but definitely a different way. More of the SAME often doesn’t equate to progress. #teachertwitter #teacherlife #edchat #leadup #kidsdeserveit #accessibility #education
Would any school libraries like a free copy of A Clock of Stars, illustrated by @chrisriddell50? I have 3 to give away. This is going to be awkward if no-one wants them! Please re-tweet 🙃
Some of y’all police your Students of Color the same way as these cops, just without the badge and the gun. Seeing them as a threat, punishing them without just cause, etc. Same stuff, just inside of a school.
Teachers who effectively use technology in the classroom have one thing in common: They care more about learning than the tools that cause it. 7 Characteristics Of Teachers Who Effectively Use Technology bit.ly/2N3eoHD
Daunte Wright’s killing was not a random, disconnected “accident” - it was the repeated outcome of an indefensible system that grants impunity for state violence, rewards it w/ endlessly growing budgets at the cost of community investment, & targets those who question that order.
I agree with this tweet! We should normalize making mistakes so students aren't afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes help us learn
Getting mad at kids for making mistakes doesn’t teach them how not to make mistakes...it teaches them how to hide their mistakes. #ThursdayThoughts #edchat
