I spent some time with Ferdinand the other day, one of Seattle's "caramel crows" (an uncommon color abnormality we don't fully understand). It was time very well spent ❤️

Wildlife agencies don't always get the positive recognition they deserve. Here is a wonderful success story of a little bear cub who may have had a worse 2020 than us humans. #wildlife #bearsoftwitter

After a little over four months of being at our Frisco Creek Rehabilitation Facility, the bear cub that was found north of Durango in January has been released back into the wild. ⬇️

I thought about making a blog post about the difference between crows and ravens, but @corvidresearch has already gone and done it. Check it out for detailed crow vs. raven info! corvidresearch.blog/tag/raven-call…

When I was a kid, I thought these were called "gardener" snakes.

This holiday season might not be how many of us originally planned, but we hope we've brought you all some peace and happiness this year, no matter how small. From all of us at Yellowstone, have a safe and wonderful Christmas and holiday! #FindingPeace

It's been 20 years since Colorado reintroduced lynx to the state and what a success story. theanimalblog.webnode.com/l/colorado-lyn…

Moose are cool...and gigantic.

#moose typically are not social animals, they do not form harems. The only durable social bond that is formed are those between cows and calves, which last until just before the birth of the next offspring (calves are born in late May and early June).

Taking a big whiff! 🌼 ⁣ Photographer Dick Van Duijn captured this incredible photograph of a European ground squirrel in Vienna, Austria. He spent over two hours, taking over 200 photos before the squirrel leaned in and took a tasty bite! #EarthCapture by @dickvduijn

Really neat footage. Good to see it running off like that with the knowledge that humans are best to be avoided.

A really neat release of Wolf V095 from the Wiyapka Lake Pack! We actually tagged V095 as a 4-week-old pup in 2019 and then studied his predation behavior this summer. Pretty satisfying to see them as little pups and then see how they make a living once they are adults! (1/2)

Happy Thanksgiving!🦃

Fun History Fact for Thanksgiving: Benjamin Franklin never championed for the turkey to be America's national bird, he just argued it was more respectable than the bald eagle.🦅🦃 #history #ThanksgivingDay history.com/news/did-benja…

Chickens are pretty *clucking* cool. 🐓

Chickens have a reputation for not being quite dumb but in fact, they are remarkably intelligent and may even be empathic. 🐔 bbc.com/earth/story/20…

People voted in favor b/c they like wolves but once this new population becomes healthy, these wolves will be hunted. There is already an established pack that came naturally to CO. Why not see what happens with them before jumping the gun on reintroduction?

Coloradans have voted to pass Proposition #114- The Restoration of Gray Wolves. With this decision, the planning process for reintroduction will begin. Learn about wolves in Colorado: cpw.state.co.us/learn/Pages/CO…
