One aspect of the *transition* which I believe is under appreciated is the JUNK left by the oil & gas industry that is obstructing a buildout of new renewable energy projects. Nowhere is this made more plain than the federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico. boem.gov/renewable-ener…

Time is indeed short! Love @Anthrop_Review for thinking through these vital issues.

This is a truly handy summary of US States climate legislations passed in 2022!

This year everyone's attention has been focused on Congress passing major climate legislation. But at the same time, state legislatures and Governors have quietly passed new climate and clean energy efforts across the country. Long thread of the wins you may have missed in 2022:

even the oil guys are saying this is dumb policy

Suspending fule taxes to lower #gasoline & #diesel will backfire on the Biden administration. It is a bad policy. 1- Fuel prices will not decline much. Most of it will go to producers & distributors 2- It will increase demand, raise prices & might cause shortages. #Oil #OOTT

Amiri Baraka made films, hosted radio shows, and built a mass communications studio to raise Black consciousness and prepare Black and Puerto Rican kids to diversify US media production. TOMORROW I talk about some recently recovered archival materials. bit.ly/3ziCR41

I'm giving a talk at Columbia about Amiri Baraka's "Black Communications Project" (his term for a program of interventions in radio, film, popular music etc.) on June 6. This is way off, but I hope some of you will put it in your calendars. @columbialib
