He's trying his best. It's his husband's birthday. He's trying to go all out. "I know I didn't have to but I knew you'd love it. So I just couldn't help myself."
He chuckled and closed the door with his foot, coming over to set the tray of food on Bucky's lap. "You bet I did. You deserve it. And yeah, I made food. I'm not the best but I made something. I also got you—" He handed the present over. "A present."
He made sure Bucky slept in. It was Saturday and his birthday. He was real quiet when he left the bed to wrap the present. He even made breakfast. It wasn't much, just toast and eggs along with some juice. But he's bringing the breakfast and the present in. "Happy Birthday!"
It took him saving up almost all of his money from the shows, but he managed to save enough of it to get @SergeantSoldat that watch Stevie caught him ogling in the windows for Buck's birthday. He even wrapped it himself— in newspaper with a twine bow, but he did it nonetheless.
"You're an unintentional enabler, Buck. I love it. And you." He grinned and looked up to place a big ol' kiss to his lips. "You know, sometimes I'm still shocked that you're home.. That you're not gonna get sent back over.. I keep expecting to wake up and everything be a dream."
"Don't go stealing someone's mattress, okay?" He couldn't help but grin at his own words. "Besides, you got your military money coming in. And you said you plan on going back to work at the docks, and I plan on starting my shows back up... We'll figure it out."
"It don't help my back any. I mean, I don't wanna make it super priority because.. Food comes first, obviously." He whined and huffed, rubbing his eyes tiredly.
He sighed and buried his face into Buck's chest. "I'm still absolutely exhausted.. I couldn't sleep last night. Kept tossing and turning all night. It sucked.."
Flops onto @SergeantSoldat with a whine. He couldn't get to sleep last night.
He chuckled and got one of his other paint covered fingers to sign his name on Bucky's bare chest. "There. Go show your friends that. It'll be great. They'll call you whipped, but you know."
Well, he'd definitely prefer cuddling with Bucky, but when he's sick or something and Bucky has to go get medicine he can cuddle the teddy. It's a win-win situation.
He's here to leave his paint mark on Bucky. Gonna pull back from that sneaky kiss to boop his nose with a paint covered finger.
Does he see Stevie complaining? No sir. Told Bucky multiple times he didn't have to win the bear. But, of course, Bucky is just as stubborn as he is. But the kiss was very welcome. Yes sir.
Accidentally on purpose. He loves leaving little paint marks on Bucky. It's kinda like him staking his claim on his husband just lest risque.

To Stevie, James was his pushing force. The one who pushed Steve to continue standing up to those bullies and those who would cause injustice. James Buchanan was equally his saving grace as his driving force to continue being reckless. Steve was in love. Disgustingly so.
He's definitely happy to have all of Bucky's snuggles. Because they are the absolute best things ever. No argument.
He likes it. He just loves seeing Bucky look at him like he's some precious treasure. Truly.
