The pitcher/catcher time being the same as your base stealing time doesn’t mean you have to shut it down. It means you have to be smarter and get an edge where you can. That’s where the vault lead comes in. Having this ability in the tool bag simply opens up more opportunity.
Being fast doesn’t make you a good base stealer. It does obviously give you a bigger margin of error. Elite base stealers combine their speed with thinking through the game. Does the pitcher have a slide step? Does the pitcher fall into a rhythm? What’s the game situation? Etc.
