The combo of suburban sprawl and a compromised rail plan has worked to limit the reach of MARTA rail for Atlanta’s regional residents. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a brighter future within the footprint of rail coverage that we do have. threadatl.org/blog/marta-rea…

"If the symphony went away, people would [blow] a gasket. If the third string oboe player had to drive three hours to get to a concert, because they’ve been displaced — nobody thinks about that, and they 100% should." - Meg Shiffler, Artist Space Trust nextcity.org/urbanist-news/…

Congrats to disability advocate Carden Wyckoff for being selected by Atlanta City Council this afternoon as the interim Council member for District 2 (my district)!! Good choice, y'all.

MARTA's interim CEO announces April 2026 as the rollout date for three big things: > A new fare system allowing riders to swipe a credit card > New open-gangway train cars (delayed from this year) > The new bus system routes (also delayed from this year) atlantanewsfirst.com/2025/09/12/mee…

Good writeup on the complexity of providing affordable homes in hot markets of Atlanta through fees, density bonuses, & requirements for below-market-rate units. It also raises questions: how can we also ensure affordable homes are near transit & on safe streets for walking?

Where should a new Amtrak Location Go? ARC and the City of Atlanta are conducting a study to find the best options to replace the current station, which is too small, not ADA-compliant, and far from MARTA rail. Learn more on ARC's News Center page: bit.ly/41Qbjk4

The attempted sale of six largely-empty office buildings above Peachtree Center MARTA Station tells a sad story about the decline of the Downtown office market. But maybe there's a great new Transit Oriented Development waiting to happen here? 🤔🤞🏻 costar.com/article/138258…
