Unfortunately building on top of Bitcoin doesn't work trustlessly with 1MB Blocksize. That's why the TCP/IP analogy is not correct in my eyes. I bet Bitcoin will be overtaken by a network which can scale trustlessly on a global scale.
Bitcoin became speculation instead of a tool. Very sad! Global money was the vision and it was killed to be just gold. The reason for this was Blockstreams greed to sell a sidechain.
Bitcoin lost its neutrality in 2017 when huge censorship was going on to prevent Bitcoin from becoming global p2p money. Since then Bitcoin is just a silly speculative thing which can't be used for transactions by more then a few million people.
Bitcoin's biggest vulnerability isn't quantum computing. It's governance. Bitcoin's greatest feature, its resistance to change is slowly become its biggest flaw. To protect against quantum threats, Bitcoin would need a protocol level fork. Likely changing signature schemes
You are absolutely right. The issue is that there is a well known Bitcoin company which has a financial incentive to prevent advancements in scaling the Bitcoin network, because they want their federated chain to be used.

I agree, that's why Bitcoin made the wrong move in 2017 and will loose against Ethereum and other Coins which are being built for it's use! Unless Bitcoin which is sadly no more than custodial digital gold.
Bitcoin chose its own death long-term. Ethereum or some other Smartcontract Platform will win. Blockstream will get what they deserve.

This issue exist since Bitcoin did censorship and went against the market in 2017. The people who stayed are mostly this kind of people. You are obviously different. I hope you will be able to chance things. I expect Bitcoin to be taken over by a competitor with privacy and
Bitcoin can't be used as money because of 1mb Blocksize and no privacy. Every coin who offers that is more useful than Bitcoin. Throwing a stone while sitting in a glashouse isn't helping anyone.

The problem with Bitcoin: Even with Lightning it never scales to 8 billion people. That's why Bitcoin will be overtaken by a competitor in the next 10 years. The open network always wins. Bitcoin is not open because of the Blocksize and L2 limitations.
