We have a blue tongue! Wildlife gardening has been worth (as has fencing the pond off from the dogs) 🐶🦎
I’m proud of this work! The term “wild dog” propagates the myth that dingoes are gone. They aren’t, we are just killing them. One in four of the animals we DNA tested were pure dingoes.
"Wild dog" is a euphemism for dingo. Ancestry analysis on 783 dingoes from NSW led by @kyliecairns shows that less than 1% of animals were feral dogs and that most animal's genomes were at least 75% dingo. One in four animals were "pure" dingoes. doi/10.1007/s10592-019-01230-z
Do you find the pictures too fuzzy? They are composed of as many pixels as the numbers of individuals of these #species left in the wild! bit.do/fa9of #wildlife
Just cc’ing #auspol and all the climate deniers trolling the Australian public by suddenly getting behind nuclear power into what’s happening to the UK’s first new nuclear power station in decades. Summary: it’s more than $5bn over budget. theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/s…
Hello I wonder if you have a moment to talk about our Lord and saviour?
Scott Morrison, prime minister of one of the world’s worst nations for deforestation (also coincidentally pursuing a free trade deal with the EU), at the G7 when EU leaders talk about ditching a trade deal with Brazil over the Amazon fires
The whippets in slo-mo this morning. Majestic form
My current fave Australian bird. The darter. Love: 1. how he/she does the flasher thing with the wings; 2. How they look like they are drowning when they swim
Australia: if the UK can give up coal, so can you #StopAdani
This is the under reported part of the no coal record this week. Its not an accident. A decade of activism and organising at all levels made it happen. Petrol and diesel cars are the new coal. Phase out of new combustion engines in a decade totally doable. Let's make it happen.
Pipit our whippet’s obsession with Petey the next-door sheep has reached new heights. Here she is whispering sweet nothings to him.

Feel like if any bird could look after itself in Medieval Europe, a cockatoo could. pursuit.unimelb.edu.au/articles/how-d…

How did a cockatoo reach 13th century Sicily?
University of Melbourne research has discovered a cockatoo in a 13th century manuscript, revealing the flourishing medieval trade network to Australia's north.
A W2 tram lives on at Wattle Park. The Melbourne equivalent of London’s Routemaster bus. #PublicTransportIcons
Wattle Park. The Lone Pine, descended from a Turkish tree that stood at Gallipoli. Currently it is not lonely. The little pine in front has been planted to take over eventually as the older one starts to decline.
Separated at birth. One is the Egyptian god of the dead, Anubis. The other is my dear whippet Pipit, face covered in sand.
#BREAKING: First ever Black Panther sighted in Sundargarh forests. Footage captured repeatedly by camera traps installed in Garjanpahad Reserve Forest of Hemgir Range, says Chief Wildlife Warden Dr Sandeep Tripathi #BlackPanther @NewIndianXpress #Odisha
Pipit is unhappy at the presence of the invasive northern Pacific sea star at Brighton doggy beach.
