Pictures of skinny, fit, or buff people may be inspiration, but don't make goals higher than you can reach. Be the best YOU that you can be.


Yoga and stretching are great ways to gain flexibility. Do them while watching tv instead of just sitting.

Be sure to pick an activity you actually enjoy doing. Try swimming, dancing, hiking, biking, yoga, jump-roping, or walking your dog.


Set realistic goals. If you aim for perfection, you will end up giving up because it can't be met. Aim for progress in small steps.


A 20 minute workout with 10 minutes of stretching the muscles you used is more beneficial than a 30 minute workout without stretching.

The right shoes can make running easier. Make sure your running shoes aren't worn out and that they fit correctly.


Get moving around the house: Clean the house, wash the car, tend to the garden, mow the lawn, sweep the sidewalk or patio with a broom.

Swimming is a great way to do cardio without overheating and sweating. Plus you can get tanned while you swim!
