I studied homo- and trans negativity in graduate school. Research shows that our status quo of winning hearts and minds is not working. It DOES show that “be the change” is the way to go. Slow and steady is the way to go. Alliances and allyship are the way to go.
It amazes me that some of the most transphobic folx are those also from disenfranchised groups. We have to do better. As a community, we have to stay the higher course. We will not win the masses with lectures and snarky comments or 24/7 defensive mode. Keep calm and win w/ love
Many transgender folx have internalized self hatred for themselves. You see it their shyness and genuine surprise at being found attractive or being loved. This is NOT okay. This is sad. This is a result of society telling us we are less than or “othered”. You ARE worthy!
You are the sum of your actions. Nothing else should define who you are. You decide your life. You decide your story. You decide your legacy. No one gets to determine who you are but YOU! Don’t set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm. Be a light. Not kindling.
