Here's a shocking example of a #closepass caught on cam. It cost the driver: 9 Points on their licence A fine of £600 Surcharge of £66 Costs of £110 Motorists, leave at least 1.5m when overtaking at 30mph. More if overtaking at higher speeds. #2wheels
Textbook behaviour from driver and cyclist. If we can all channel this when we use the roads we can make the world a safer place.
So often we see or share videos of awful driving around cyclists, so this textbook pass from an exceptionally patient & careful HGV driver for D&W Agri coming into Jedburgh deserves sharing, as does Rhoda's response! They're not on Twitter but we've thanked the haulier directly.
Tyre checks should always be completed, but does your company do spot checks to make sure it's not just a tick box exercise?
yesterday, another HGV leaving the Motorway just past Junction 7 of the M6 South, as a result of a tyre blow out. Driver was very fortunate to get out alive with minor injuries. Please check your tyres regularly for yours and everyone’s else’s safety! #fatal4 2251

Stops like this emphasise the need for well resourced RPUs as well as technology. Whilst seatbelt offences could be identified by camera & remotely processed without interaction with the driver, relying on just that for enforcement is a green light to drink drivers and criminals.
The driver of the ice cream van was sighted in Devizes where the driver had no seatbelt on. On stopping the van the driver provided a roadside breath result of 90! The flake has been added and we are off to custody. #whiskeyWhippy
We're helping kick off today's programme at @Traffex with a panel session close to our hearts. So much can still be done to improve the safety of driving for work, and at a time of tight budgets can in many cases actually save organisations money at the same time.

Would you believe it… 😡🤯 One of our Casualty Reduction Officers (CRO) stopped the driver of this car this morning. She didn’t understand why she was reported for an offence. 🤯
A great example of why the time to perform driver's checks properly needs to be included in their daily routine - and on their paid time.
