We spotted this VIP tree being roped off from public access. It's also used a very natural alternative to traffic lights. It's a round about that helps cars to navigate the road system. Can you imagine a Hawai'i with less traffic lights and more natural solutions? 🚦🌳🚗
Zoom in to see if you can spot the hibiscus 🌺. On a walk through @thehonoluluzoo, we noticed this variegated hibiscus tree. Here we thought the hibiscus only grew on bushes. These trees make excellent shade and have very rich nectar and pollen for our flying friends 🦋🐝🦜

HIGHLIGHT 🌳🔆: The City revitalized the tree wells along Waialae Avenue and volunteers continue to maintain and care for them. What else would you like to see in 2024? Maybe more trees and some bird feeders to bridge urban and nature together?
HIGHLIGHT🌳🔆: The rain garden along 11th Avenue at Harding Avenue, transformed a barren strip of land into a useful nature-based solution that can infiltrate ~900 gallons of stormwater per hour. We hope to see more innovations like this pop around Honolulu in 2024!
