Having some nominal amount of Native DNA does not make you “Native.” It means you had a remote Native ancestor. Rapey white dudes & lack of legal protections around Black & Native women ensured most Black & Native Americans have small amounts of white DNA. We’re still not white.

For now, if you're reading stories on Elizabeth Warren and they: A) Treat DNA ancestry testing as scientific fact rather than science-enabled toy with a lot of flaws in it B) Don't address Native concerns abt what these tests do/don't mean Find a different article to learn from
