In college I was just about always the only black person in class. I decided to apply to medschool when I realized I was tutoring all these pre meds who are traditionally accepted. Self studied 4 MCAT. Got in, and turned out I was 1 of 2 black people. No one’s stealing seats.
Today is the anniversary of the Stonewall Inn riot, a turning point in the fight for LGBT rights. I see echoes of the oppression that made a riot inevitable in the anti trans bills being proposed in legislative chambers across the country. History will repeat unless we act.
