What does it matter if you are 2 metres away if you are out walking to work in this windy weather !Every human being must stay at home and protect themselves and their families. #EndNoRecourseToPublicFundsNow no one should be left with such an option!
The Home Office commenting on @DetentionAction's tweet yesterday. MANY reports have shown that the "welfare of detainees" is not a priority for the @ukhomeoffice (1):
The majority of those detained are eventually released back to their communities in the UK. The use of detention is disproportionate, damaging and dangerous - especially right now during a pandemic (6)
In the Home Office open data stats (last recorded quarter Q3 2018), more than half of detained population was "asylum detainees" as opposed to "non-asylum detainees". Non-asylum detainees will be people who have "overstayed" their visas as well as "foreign national offenders" (5)
Members of the Home Affairs Committee slammed a string of "serious failings” in the department, including examples of people being wrongy detained, and vulnerable migrants being locked up unnecessarily (....) “disgraceful abuse” of detainees (4) politicshome.com/news/article/m…
"Neglect and serious failures by the Home Office and multiple other agencies contributed to the death of a vulnerable man who died from hypothermia, dehydration and malnutrition in an immigration removal centre" (3) independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…
"The Home Office has shown a shockingly cavalier attitude in its approach to immigration detention and overseen serious failings in almost every area of the immigration detention process" (2) parliament.uk/business/commi…
The Home Office commenting on @DetentionAction's tweet yesterday. MANY reports have shown that the "welfare of detainees" is not a priority for the @ukhomeoffice (1):
This is misleading. The welfare of detainees & staff is our utmost priority. That is why we have taken proactive measures to protect detainees against coronavirus since the pandemic started. (1/3)
It's not misleading at all, the courts Agreed with you all because it's all a money scam, holding innocent people in your maximum prisons, just as you unlawfully detained me for 17 days, you guys all in it for profit, #StopTheServiceCharge #LetTrevorStay
Read it, & read it again. Don’t pretend to protect us, your moral compass is far from being in order. You destroy people’s lives, and now we are a key worker almost down because of it. shame. on. you.
Being a single mum being keyworker makes me scared to go work I need my partner to be here with our children in this hard time we miss you so much we need you in our lives 😔😔😔😔😔
The government must immediately remove all immigration-based eligibility criteria for support and suspend all NHS charging and data sharing for immigration-enforcement purposes 👏🏾 @publiclawcentre on urgent next steps #Covid2019 👇🏽 novaramedia.com/2020/03/27/und…
We're pleased to announce that we have now been able to make hardship payments to 126 sex workers in the UK who are in crisis since launching the fund - but there are currently 150 more on the waiting list and the need is still incredibly urgent.
Please RT: SWARM is starting a hardship fund for UK sex workers in financial crisis due to #Corvid19. All donations via our website will go to the hardship fund to support sex workers in crisis. It's time to step up our efforts of mutual aid and solidarity swarmcollective.org/donate
Why do you insist on smearing people in detention and trying to whip up fear and hatred of them? Detention is not full of "dangerous criminals" as you well know. No-one is in detention for public safety reasons, that's the job of @MoJGovUK and our prisons.
But it is right that we protect the public from dangerous criminals, which is why the vast majority of detainees still in immigration removal centres are foreign national offenders. (3/3)
