If heading out to recreate this Memorial Day weekend, watch out for abandoned mines. Old mines can be covered by sagebrush, old boards, etc and difficult to see. Mines can be intriguing but can contain dangerous gases, unstable structures, and explosives. #stayoutstayalive

Deputy Director Dana Dean was awarded the John E. Willson Distinguished Alumni Award from the U of U’s Mining Engineering Program. She is the first female awardee since its creation in 2000. She won in 2021 but due to Covid, didn’t receive the award in person until now.

Division GIS Analyst Cat Schooley was awarded Best Interactive Map Winner at the 2021 @ugicutah conference. The interactive map portrays the growth of the oil and gas industry within Utah from 1970 to the present. cschooley95.github.io
