Good luck to Isi, Lillia, Amber, Yusuf and Carlo who are competing in the Round 1 of the British Informatics Olympiad. This is a national programming competition for 6th Form students. They have 3 hours to plan and code solutions to complex computational problems @WestKirbyGS

Congratulations to Ellie, Ellen, Elspeth and Mavya from 8T who were the highest ranking WKGS team scoring 2861 points in the CyberFirst Girls 2024 competition. Well done to everyone who took part, it was great to see at least one team representing each form. @WestKirbyGS

It's that time of year again for the GCHQ Christmas Card Challenge! Students in all year groups are invited to take part. The challenge takes place on Wednesday 11th November so please come and collect a card from B13 at break or lunchtime on the day. @WestKirbyGS

#WKGSY9 Girls in ICT Day part 3.. (highlight of the day!) We recorded a BBC Newsbeat episode with the studio director. They took turns between working on the mixing desk and being the presenters. We were using the real BBC studio, just after today's broadcast was recorded...
#WKGSY9 Girls in ICT Day part 2.. Over to Quay House studios to visit the Research & Development Blue Room where the latest computing technology used in broadcasting is developed for a workshop in generative AI audio We got to see the famous BBC Breakfast red sofa on the way!
#WKGSY9 students visited BBC Salford today for the STEM Girls in ICT Day. They participated in a series of workshops with BBC staff of all levels including technicians, producers, editors, and engineers. Workshop 1 with AI & cyber security experts solving a series of challenges..
Many thanks to @LivUni Department of Computer Science who hosted a series of workshops for #WKGSY9 students today. They enjoyed practical activities based on parallel sorting algorithms, application of Wavefunction collapse in generating images, encryption and coding / robotics.
We're starting to get some correct solution submitted now! Well done to the first three who have cracked the code by the end of lunchtime today. It's not too late to submit an entry. Please note - the full solution to all parts must be submitted, not just the final answer.
