What to Know About AI in Screenwriting Contests and Coverage Services

We could not agree more and will be addressing this in a follow-up to our 2022 paper.

Screenwriters need transparency and accountability re AI from contests & script services. What measures are in place? Do readers sign contracts? Are evaluations put through AI checkers? Are random samples given to professional AI checkers? @WOCTransparency @WGAWest @WGAEast

Love this! Congrats to all the writers. #writersmakingchange

Hey Writers! We are putting together another panel to discuss the role of AI in screenwriting contests, fellowships/labs, and coverage services. What kinds of questions do you have in this regard? (Comment, DM, or email transparency[at]wocunite[dot]com.) #screenwriting

WRITERS: what concerns about AI do you have when submitting to contests/labs/fellowships?

Hey all! The WOCU website has been recently updated and there is a new link to our Screenwriting Contest Transparency initiative: wocunite.org/screenwriting-…

Another element worth adding into an organization’s Annual Transparency Report? Transparency and accountability is why we launched this initiative. Help spread the word and get more contests on board.

#Screenwriters, #PreWGA, you need to start asking competitions about guarantees your scripts won't be fed into AI aggregators. As things change, competitions will start to feel the pinch too and be looking for ways to sustain their income. #ScreenwritngContest

A week into the strike which means we’re a week late. We support the writers during this challenging but necessary time. Writers should be fairly compensated, be considered employees, and not have their work used to train AI, amongst many other things.

The Board of Directors of the @WGAwest and the Council of the @WGAeast, acting upon the authority granted to them by their memberships, have voted unanimously to call a strike, effective 12:01 AM, Tuesday, May 2.
