Welcome Sean, our new Tool Librarian! 🙌 He first came in as a renter, a volunteer, and now he’s leading the way—keeping inventory in shape, writing newsletters, and teaching classes. When he’s not here, you’ll find him tinkering, gaming, playing D&D, or reading. Come say hi!
Have you built, fixed, or created something with tools borrowed (or skills learned) at the Tool Library? Whether you’re patching up, building from scratch, or just getting the job done, we want to see it. Post your project and tag #wstoolsprojects so we can appreciate your work.
Winter’s around the corner—it’s time to seal drafty windows, boost insulation, protect pipes from freezing, and make sure your heating system is solid. The City of Seattle offers financial help with weatherization & home repairs 👉 seattle.gov/housing/homeow… seattle.gov/housing/homeow…
🙌 Big thanks to Dan, who's with us every weekend! Since retiring, he’s found community here—helping members, chatting with neighbors, and lending his skills. When he’s not here, he’s renovating houses or out enjoying the great outdoors. #volunteer #westseattle #CommunityPower
There are still spots open in the knife sharpening and wood turning classes. Our classes are donation-based and beginner friendly. Pay what you can, learn skills you’ll actually use, and keep the Tool Library strong for everyone. Grab your spot today at wstools.org/classes.
September’s cooling down, but you can still get winter onion, cabbage & cauliflower in the ground! Swing by the library for tools & tips from our awesome volunteers. We’re also on the lookout for electric pole saws, chainsaws & pressure washers—Help us keep West Seattle workin’!
Fall’s on the way, which makes it the perfect time to build or refresh rain barrels, clean up gutters and filters, and get those decks or fences sealed and weatherproofed. Swing by the library. From saws to sealers, we’ll set you up for a solid, weather-ready finish.
Shoutout to our system librarian volunteer Silas! He is heading into 10th grade, but he’s already a machine repair pro. He volunteers most evenings 5–8, weekends too, and always shows up sharp, reliable, and ready to learn. Want to join the crew? Come volunteer with us!
West Seattle Tool Library is planning events—what might you show up for? Vote below or comment to let us know!👇

Got road trip plans? August’s a great time to build custom storage for your van, truck, or trunk. Staying local? Organize that shed or garage before the fall hits. We’ve got circular saws, impact drivers, jigsaws—and advice to match. WSTL is here to help you build it right.
Meet Bird, one of our system librarian volunteers at WSTL. They pitch in once or twice a month, and we are so lucky to have Bird’s help! When they’re not here, they’re out backpacking or creating DIY cat furniture🐾. Want to pitch in too? Sign up on our website or shoot us a DM.
July’s still good for planting: get carrots, beans, or beets in the ground now. And if you’re looking to learn more, we’ve still got spots open in Wood Turing and Table Saw 2 classes. Check out what’s coming up at wstools.org/classes. #westseattle #gardening #diy #workshops
