At 1.55am on 2/12/17 my Gt Gt Uncle’s battn attacked on a moonlit night as part of an operation to secure the northern tip of the Passchendaele ridge. He was killed. At 1.55 last night we stood at the same location and remembered all those who died in the attack

First stop today was Zuydcoote Military Cemetery. I paid my respects to Gunner Harry Wayman of Carshalton - 12 years ago I helped to reunite his death plaque with his family but this was the first time I had visited his grave

Sgt Alexander Burt of the 2nd Bn The Royal Sussex Regiment captured this German machine gun whilst serving at the #Somme in 1916. He was awarded a posthumous Distinguished Conduct Medal. Alexander was mortally wounded on the 9thSeptember, dying 5 days later. @PWRR_Museum #medals

Visited the grave of Bernard Freyberg today at St Martha on the Hill. VC, DSO and 3 bars. VC for actions taking Beaucourt on 13 November 1916. Nice war memorial in the church plus one CWGC burial in the churchyard
