Ironically, sometimes learning to cope with making impulsive decisions can actually make decision making worse. If we learn to cope by second guessing all of our decisions, this can encourage paralysis and even damage our self-confidence
Autistic people are often see as difficult or high maintenance when we really just have different needs. Allistic people often assume other's needs based on an allistic perspective. When this proves false, the work to adapt these assumptions is interpreted as us being difficult
Part of being autistic is having to overthink everything, because many people not only misinterpret you but assume the worst about what you say and do and give you little grace. Often, your ‘overthinking’ may not be overthinking at all - just you wisely trying to spot land mines.
Sometimes autistic people are too burnt out, overwhelmed and/or anxious to socialise. When this happens, we may need to spend time alone for our health. This is valid and doesn’t mean we’re being rude, snobby, aloof, etc. Instead, we’re being responsible amidst a personal crisis.
