The most pertinent finding of @lengreview was the discrepancy between what PAs and Drs felt PAs were competent to do: Drs are trained to be cautious, careful, and reign in over-confidence. PAs do not demonstrate the same levels of caution, and one needs to ask why that is.

This will fuel calls to restrict access to justice. But what should be a priority is preventing the harm in the first place, improving the response to incidents and true authentic apologies. NHS total medical negligence liabilities hit £58.2bn theguardian.com/society/2025/m…

We may all need to vote to have industrial action of refusing to train, oversee or support these people unless regulators start doing their jobs. Tight centralised scope of practice & in case of PA -> physician assistants with ££ support for retraining via competitive entry

Physician Associates 🤝 Nursing Associates 🤝 NHS workforce. All wanting to progress to specialist roles without the foundations in training.

increase the use of SAS and LED doctors to compensate for the drop in the number of trainees. There is very little discussion about the number of residents permanently leaving the country or the profession. 6/

Lol & you lot thought Wes was the saviour of general practice - he doesn’t even consider it a part of the NHS. As predicted, his “listening” performance at the RCGP conference was purely for show. gponline.com/streeting-says…

Ask yourself why the leading researchers studying Long Covid are wearing respirators in a conference at Rome. Hint: They might know a thing or two about what SARS2 does to the brain and body, and they don’t want to risk an infection. (aaaand respirators work!)

It’s going to be a good day!! Had to have a photo with these research heros 🙌🏼

When 1 side in a debate knowingly allowed child protection prosecutions to be placed at risk demonstrating callous contempt for abused children you have to wonder why people support them. Again, nobody on the pro PA side will address this, but it matters.

That would be the same Prof Sir Stephen Powis whom I literally pointed out the child protection issues in relation to #physicianassociates in March at #RCPEGM &made no comment Story broke in Sept in @Telegraph ….whose happy for @gmcuk to take on regulation from Dec13 That one?

Exclusive: The GMC will not take into account other bodies' scopes of practice for physician associates (PAs) when regulation begins.

The @gmcuk consultation was tedious and technical. I suspect deliberately so to reduce responses. Dame Carrie mentions the responses not answering the questions posed. That’s because the GMC failed to ever ask the correct questions about their planned regulation of PAs.
