Added some nice decorative lights and have the connected to smart plugs, made my room a little more feng-shui-y, did a little repair painting, tried my hand at soldering some electronics (somewhat worked), and now doing a bit of (nearly) Spring cleaning and organization 😀

New Year Resolutions (a bit late I know 😆) - Improve apartment design & function (affordable/DIY decor & tech) - Oh-so-common weigh loss (really like the Lose It! app) - Re-motivate to study CompTIA - Keep up on tech news (The Verge is great) like this😀: youtu.be/bnfwClgheF0

Lately been try to make a more smart-home apartment (asmartment?) along with trying my hand a DIY repairs. Made an old iTouch into a wall-mounted kiosk-like Spotify device, perma-bricked my old boot-looping Kindle, and made my own DAKboard with a mounted monitor and RaspberryPi😁

Philips Hue App (and bunches of products) have been occupying a lot of my time (especially the ever so colorful scenes). Getting to know the Alexa app better and had fun making some non-smart devices accessible via Alexa routines. 😁Pokemon Ultra Moon is going pretty well too 🌝

On Chapter 8 (power supplies) in the CompTIA A+ guide 😁 Lately been following forum posts and videos to make a dedicated device for connecting my Broadlink IR blaster to the Echo Dot. Chose my RPi with Emteria OS (Android-based) with RM Tasker Plugin and it works great!!! 😁😁😁

Haven't made too much progress on my CompTIA study book in the last week but this week is another week! 😁 Lately, I've been getting into the vastness of the IoT and Alexa and trying out tons of commands, skills, routines, etc. combined with other WiFi, Bluetooth, & IR devices 🤪

Lots of Amazon browsing and shopping!!! 🤪Up to chapter 6 (BIOS) on CompTIA A+ book and trying to find a good set of flashcards on Quizlet to go with it. Not many consistent chapter to chapter sets on there but there's a glossary set of ~900 I'm slowing making my way through 😁

Tried my hands at interior decorating with the use of only Command strips and hooks and made some progress on reading the CompTIA A+ guide. 👍🏻 Only on chapter 3 atm but I'll read more this week. Finally getting to the good stuff. 😄 Playing less Minecraft might help. 😅

Just got a Kindle copy of Mike Meyer's CompTIA A+ Cert Exam Guide. I watched the majority of his Lynda courses earlier this year so might rewatch them. It's a 1500 page book with 28 chapters so maybe one chapter a day? We'll see how that motivation holds up 😄

Ended up doing a drive reformatting and fresh install of Windows 10. It's awesome plus its Minecraft PE is super smooth compared to the PC version! Too bad there aren't really any mods for it but it's cool that they're trying to get people into coding 😄 minecraft.makecode.com

Decrypted my drives, restored the MBR, and tinkered with BIOS settings but maybe it was a corrupted partition table. Still, System Restore CD had a lot of great tools! TestDisk and GParted were my favs. 😁system-rescue-cd.org

Created a bit of problem with installing Windows 10 on a new partition. The boot loader is sort of err... missing. Locked myself out of the UEFI accidentally too. 😅Thankfully, resetting the CMOS fixed that but I still need to repair VeraCrypt boot loader. Makin' progress!👍🏼

Learned a bit more about Raspbian and the Pi Camera this weekend. Then started using Parsec to stream my desktop PC to my Rpi in the other room! Still need to figure out how to configure it and somehow keep it from crashing 😆parsec.tv

Having fun with RPi and breadboard LEDs, buzzers, and switches with Python scripts following along with a guidebook from Adeept. 👍🏻 Wikipedia is pretty helpful too for more info about electrical components (though some of it is pretty over my head when it comes to equations) 😅

Right now playing with my new Raspberry Pi and fiddling around with all the command line and networking protocols between my Ubuntu laptop and Raspbian Rpi 😁

Had a great weekend at my sister's wedding in West Virginia! 👰🏼 The wedding ceremony, flats we stayed at, local eats, and New River Gorge trails and bridge walk were all amazing autumn activities! 🍂😊🍂

However, the circular character counter is friggin' AWESOME compared to the simple number countdown! 👍🏻

Ready for the full transition to my apartment this weekend (yeah, it's taken me awhile)😅 Unrelated: the hype is real youtu.be/cOUrzxyng04
