My opinion, Wings were better off keeping Vanek, I understand he's a UFA, but the guy wanted to stay, let him help the young guys develop
Detroit is now up to 10 picks in the 2017 NHL draft: 1st 2nd 3rd CHI 3rd NYR 3rd TOR 4th 5th 6th 6th FLA 7th capfriendly.com/draft
I could easily see the Wings using their first, and one of their 2nd round picks to trade up for Lilligren if they do not end up top 3
Good trade imo for the red wings. Smith is a decent player but man does he make a lot of stupid mistakes. Keep the picks coming #WhosNext
Update: #RedWings acquire 2nd Rd draft pick in 2018 and a 3rd Rd draft pick in 2017 from the Rangers in exchange for D Brendan Smith.
