Wizards fans exist I swear
2023-2026 is probably DC getting the franchise back to neutral. The cap, asset, and franchise reputation was that bad after the Tommy-era. A coaching change, young pieces, cap-space, and all these swaps heading into 26-30 seems more likely to produce a real playoff team
Aye no bs ima miss Corey bro
“I’m glad he [Trae] said that about DC being a big market. You come to the nation’s capital and you want to play here. I’m all about that. I want the fans back, and I want the arena packed.” - @JohnWall live on @MonSportsNet What a time to be a Wizards fan 🥹💙 #ForTheDistrict
Interesting way to look at this Bradley Beal to Chris Paul to Jordan Poole to CJ McCollum to Trae Young * 4 years of pick swaps * 6 seconds * $16M saved over the next 2 years
Trae Young was just introduced to the crowd at Capital One Arena. Big applause.
Crowd is booing Poole every time he touches the ball. Didn’t expect that much hate. I thought he left the city on good terms. At least I appreciate what he did in DC.
Trae Young courtside with the team tonight! Clearly still meeting everybody.
Kyshawn, Tre, and Bub look like they’re having so much fun pre-game
Hearing someone, who has as much respect in the NBA community as CJ, speak so highly of the Wizard’s front office and organization means so much more than fans of many other teams will ever realize.
CJ McCollum to me on trade to Atlanta: “Loved my time in DC. Organization was great to my family and I. Michael Winger and Will [Dawkins] did everything they said they would and kept their word from the very beginning. Love the city and they’re doing things the right way over…
It’s my yearly pilgrimage to Capital One Arena. Check out Bub and JP chopping it up pre-game.
Trae Young yet again screwing the Knicks
I got to bed early last night so I missed most of the “Trae to DC” partying on the TL, but I’ve really enjoyed waking up and seeing the Wizards organization getting a ton of respect from folks who cover the league. Shoutout to Dawkins & Winger for the massive turnaround.
I know AG has said he wants to play as long as possible, but man, going into next season it’d be great for the organization if he was open to a coaching role. Long term, I think it’d also be an amazing opportunity for his professional career in basketball as well.
Will Dawkins took over as Wizards GM in June 2023. The lone remaining player from the previous regime: Anthony Gill
A few thoughts on the trade: • Wouldn’t be surprised if Trae Young doesn’t play much this season — dealing w/ quad injury + Wiz need to keep pick • McCollum/Kispert’s departure opens mins for Tre Johnson at starting SG, Will Riley off bench • Sarr will thrive alongside Trae
More than just a baller, an absolute class act. Got traded to a team of young kids picked to finish dead last in the league and never said a bad word. Just led by example and put in the hard work every single day. Thank you @CJMcCollum‼️ (h/t @ChrisBHaynes)
I take back all my question as to why the Wizards would trade for Trae Young. If you can get prime Trae Young for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, you should just go ahead and do it
This will seem wild to some. But little things like this matter to a team that’s been clowned nationally for decades (most of it deserved, to be sure). One of the Wizards’ young guys, after a win over a good team, is asked to come on a national postgame show. Small moves.
“Everybody knows what we’re building, and you can sense that around the building” 🙌 Alex Sarr sits down with @Mike_Yam, @RudyGay, and @ChrisBHaynes on The Association following a 23 PTS, 8 REB, 4 BLK performance to discuss his development and the Wizards’ hot stretch.
For 0 draft capitaI, I kinda like it CJs expiring deal, he wasnt part of the future. Thank you CJ, goodluck And Corey, love the guy, but his spot in the rotation was clearly awkward, and I think he’ll fit well in Atlanta We fill Trae’s holes well, and it’ll at least be fun
BREAKING: The Atlanta Hawks are trading four-time NBA All-Star Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, sources tell ESPN.
