Better workplaces for everyone help mothers. "But the ultimate solution, researchers say, is not to make it possible for mothers to work crazy hours, too. It’s to reorganize work so that nobody has to." nytimes.com/2019/04/26/ups…

"infant sleep is regarded as much more of a crisis in the U.S. [due to a lack of] paid parental leave...“When they have to get up in the morning and function for work, of course mothers and fathers get desperate for sleep,” she said. newyorker.com/culture/cultur…

This photo is so powerful. When I was expecting, I always worried that I would not be taken seriously, or that having young children would be seen as a liability. I'm grateful for a new paradigm. nyti.ms/2TjmpMo

"Women in Stockholm seemed confused or laughed out loud when I used the term “working mother.” “I don’t think that expression exists in Swedish,”...“It’s not like there’s a ‘nonworking mother,’” she said. “I mean, what else would she do?”" nytimes.com/2019/02/09/opi…

I am seeing so many articles today about parental leave and how important it is for employers to offer parents time off. But, sometimes just offering the time is not enough. Employers need to encourage and reassure employees to take the time and support them when they come back.

What if part of the answer to the AI revolution was to hand over the most repetitive tasks in our working week to robots and take a full, paid day off every week to spend with our children, or with ageing parents, or to pursue a hobby, or volunteer? ow.ly/CRVy30lrdSc

Even while dealing with unspeakable racism, gender & motherhood bias, Ms. Johnson performed calculations that sent men into space. On her 100th birthday, let us imagine a world where women-and particluarly women of color-can soar to their greatest heights, unfettered by biases.

Happy 100th Birthday to Ms. Katherine Johnson, NASA human computer who calculated trajectories for the Apollo space missions by hand!
