A campaign for an independent England

England the only nation in the tournament without its own national democracy, parliament, First Minister or even national anthem. Make England proud by addressing these injustices.

Is it inevitable? You can imagine the Conservative & Unionist pitch: 'Vote Tory to Save the Union'. Maybe they could get Saatchi & Saatchi to do an advert with Nigel Farage in John Swinney's breast pocket.

Looks like Scotland is heading for independence, it is now inevitable.

An interesting poll. Support for Scottish independence rises from 54% to 59% if Scotland is an independent Scottish republic. The Monarchy is often regarded as one of the lynchpins of Britishness, but what if it isn't?

An independent Scottish republic? A huge majority would support independence if it also meant removing the King as head of state. A newly independent Scotland must be based on a foundation equality and democracy. These principles are simply incompatible with monarchy.

What British institutions are left to sell? Is it just the Royal Family that isn't in foreign ownership now? It all contributes to the diminution of our collective sense of Britishness, assuming you have any that is.
