Let’s take a moment of silence for those designers who activated the perspective grid and never got out of it. They’re still there to this day.
`:where` removes duplication from CSS selectors (without adding specificity!) and is now broadly supported 🤩 💻 The demo: stackblitz.com/edit/css-where… 📘 The MDN docs: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web… 🌐 Browser support: Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Android Browser… all but the IE;)
Just use the syntax that fits the shape of your brain. Arguing your preferred syntax is superior is like arguing you have the better brain shape than others.
This new wave of people sharing UI/UX content here, using the hard work of others to build social capital, clout & posturing as “non-gatekeepers”. If you genuinely care about sharing knowledge, do the hard work. Don’t piggyback off someone else’s work. Don’t be a shameless thief.
“If you can’t read convoluted code you shouldn’t be a developer.” It’s not about being able to read convoluted code. It’s about knowing how to write code that is comprehensible to both computers and humans. Convoluted !== Better Take your gate keeping elsewhere.
We don't talk enough about how the majority of people who make UX decisions are not designers.
How to attract and retain great developers: Pay well Use modern tech Offer flexible hours Provide fast laptops Support remote work Treat people with respect Solve meaningful problems You don't need ping pong, game consoles, or beer taps.
✨ Hey gang! I shared a site with a swooshy image grid a while back and a few people asked for a blog post. Apparently I'm incapable of *just blogging* and have to have animations and interactive demos so it took a little while. cassie.codes/posts/swipey-i…
"PHP, on the other hand, is infamous for badly written software." And it "lures developers into a trap." Please put these tired arguments in a bin.
Another angry rant from a developer not wanting to support IE11.... well 2% of our users still use it even though it is "ancient". That's a lot of users! 😬
Oh I get it, because her name is Wanda and his name is Vision

I don't know who needs to hear this, but your 2FA Auth codes work for a minute or two after the timer runs out, so you don't need to beat the clock
A free accessibility testing tool for inclusive design that offers a colorblind simulator, contrast checker, touch target size checker, and so much more. ↬ Adee adeeapp.com (P.S. Keep up the brilliant work! 🙏✨)
Mini-hack of the day: Removed the Google Analytics script from my blog in favor of sendBeacon()-based custom code by @philwalton (thank you!). It’s smaller, it’s anonymous (I don’t track users anymore) and I can collect core web vital scores. github.com/surma/surma.de…
