22 years ago today the National Minimum Wage was introduced. Despite fierce opposition, Labour introduced it and saw more than two million workers get a pay rise. Now the fight to end poverty pay continues.
Being young in a political party, particularly if you're also a woman, means having to be twice as good as your colleagues for half the opportunities and a quarter of the respect. I've seen too many people my age trying to do the same things I am quit under the pressure.

Hi there. I have never replied to a tweet, but as a Town Cllr I felt compelled! The reason why I stood, aged 25, was to change how "the Council" looks to these people. The system doesn't help: lots of meetings are daytime so we can't be surprised that lots of retirees take part.
From my experience, I would say most just don’t have the interest because they don’t know how influential local politics is on their lives. After I did work experience at my local council, I found it way more interesting

Heartbreaking to see Devon on this list as one of the places most at risk of seeing our high streets hollowed out due to COVID ☹️ We need to invest more in our town centres, think outside the box and make them places for the community, not just for shopping or tourism

This landmark judgement is a testament to the hard work of trade unions. It sends out a clear message that companies shouldn't game the system by undercutting the rights of their employees. Uber drivers & all gig economy workers are entitled to decent pay, safety & job security
Our members put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public. They stepped up during a public health crisis, now employers and ministers must step up and address the pay crisis in local government and schools. Workers' dedication must be recognised. gmb.org.uk/news/unions-ca…
The Court of Appeal has upheld the High Court's ruling that the £1012 fee to register children as British citizens is unlawful. The Home Office must now act to reduce extortionate fees (it currently makes 60%+ profit on applications). Nobody should be priced out of citizenship.
