Today in the lab: -> New 3D printer is churning away -> Going to try out Huginn as a selfhosted IFTTT replacement -> It's cold outside, so a lunchtime hibernation may be in order

I am finding that the only way for me to get out of a rabbit hole is to decide to climb down another one. My mind has more rabbitholes than the movie Holes

That feeling when your boss tells you that he's trying to get the entire team signed up for well known public learning sites, instead of some wish[.]com version

Just updated my Kubernetes 101 book on LeanPub — as always, buy whenever, you get updates free forever! kubernetes101book.com #k8s #kubernetes

Team lead asks me to do some IP and DNS cleanup. So I threw together a quick script that pings every ip and if there's no response, print it out and do a reverse dns lookup. This way I can visually confirm what needs to stay.

Surprisingly, support actually just sent me the link without trying the whole "Can we get your support ID?" or "We want you to buy this product" first. They waited until after I got the link, then emailed asking to set up a demo. Which I respectfully declined. Lab use only. 😀

Trying a new backup vendor. Their site says they support a Linux based host (cuz I dont want to bloat my system with Windows if I can help it) but the link provided for their install script returns a 403 Forbidden error. 😒🤭

When researching a software project, I will almost always look at the date of last publish/update on the most current version. If its not from within the last year, I won't even consider it. Prefer less than 3 months. If your project isn't updated that often, is it secure? 😬

Terraform. Infrastructure as Code ebook. Its free, doesn't even ask for info. linode.com/content/declar…

Trying to set up a kubernetes cluster. Realized there are many many ways to do this, but each must be done in their own way. And none of them are intuitive.

Starting in an hour, the forecast is 50% chance of thunderstorms for the next 48 hours at least. My servers are not currently on any voltage protection or UPS. Guess I may not have them online this weekend at all.

Sometimes a random email could completely shift your thought process. @geerlingguy released an update to his Kubernetes 101 book on Leanpub. I immediately started thinking about it again and can't wait to get my servers back online. Get yours here: leanpub.com/kubernetes-101

From the personal channel. Not that I post much but this will take a lot of my time. Fun.

Welp, everything looks like I'm going back to college in the fall. Joy.

Lab is packed and ready for transport to new house. Internet is ordered and waiting on install. Now I can wire the house how I want.

Try to plan a relocation. Don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Before I move, need internet at new location. Shutting down systems and slowly packing up. Gonna post pics once I get moved. Rack should be more organized then... maybe.

One day I will upgrade to something like this

What gives people feelings of power? Money? Status? Me: 46TB and Dual 10GbE

It’s a good summary of how they could’ve done it way better.
