It’s odd that MLB waits to announce major awards winners until a random Weds. two weeks after the WS, when the omnivorous casual fan has been pulled to NFL and NBA

Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal has won the American League Cy Young Award for the second consecutive season, becoming the first back-to-back winner in the AL since Pedro Martinez in 1999-2000. Boston's Garrett Crochet finished second and Houston's Hunter Brown was third.

Lou didn’t have the monster peak years (well, ‘89: 28 HR, 15% BB, 10% K, 131 wRC+ at 2B) But arguably the majors best all around 2B from ‘82-‘91, iconic DP duo w/ Trammell when he slowed down, he still raked: Age 35-38: .289 BA/.863 OPS/131 wRC+/11.3 WAR/14% BB-11% K

He played before most of our times but it is an absolute travesty that Lou Whitaker is not in the Hall of Fame

I’ve said for years that Trae is not a winning player Clippers broadcast helped with a graphic They’ve been -2 net negative with him, net -1 without him for 2+ seasons—and those teams were not as loaded as the current roster

A prematurely chunky infielder with a good hit tool, less power than you think, and catcher speed? That is the Tigers MO Bo or Gleyber?

Front offices communicate with coaches regarding strategy, player health, analytics etc. Every week. So if Dart’s usage needed to change, Schoen owns part of that. He also owns the defense and general lack of talent, but hey he drafted Josh Allen or whatever

Daboll was willing to sacrifice Dart’s health to save his own job Dart took 77 hits in 7 starts and was evaluated for concussion 4 times this year. Inexcusable and had to be done

It’s worth reflecting on the fact that if New York City became more egalitarian its fiscal model would instantly collapse.

“Always ask grok” MAAAG

Yesterday I shared a lovely bit of folklore, and one person's immediate response was to ask Grok whether the tale was “true” and then call me a liar. I can tell some of you have no exposure to myths & folktales because you miss their purpose entirely. Your soul has no whimsy.

And hey, Oneil Cruz ranked 1st, Jordan Walker 3rd, and Matt Wallner 9th in avg bat speed so it is *definitely* a great singular metric to judge value (Also, Tucker’s 72 mph avg was higher than Devers and Vientos this season, two notable slap hitters)

Here's how Kyle Tucker's 2025 bat speed ranks amongst all $200M+ contracts (NOT including Rendon). You can notice the only players below him or in his vicinity are infielders - specifically shortstops that provided good defensive value this year. I think it's dishonest to say…

In my latest for @RotoBallerMLB, I look at SPs 7-12 drafted in 2025, grading their season and looking at what 2026 might hold for six of them. SPs 1-6 will feature next week, but which of this group do you think has been graded too harshly or too kindly? rotoballer.com/fantasy-baseba…

100% fake “scare” while every data co. does deep r&d (or outsources to consultants) on water efficiency and the UN estimates 40% of the world faces serious water scarcity by 2040

While the water scare has always been 100% fake the energy usage from data centers is real. But the correct solution is to build a shitload of new energy, not to make it illegal to build data centers. This is the point of abundance. We can choose to have nice things!

If you’re going to have the hubris to post this, and keep it entirely white/western, at least give a range of western cultures, eg Dostoevsky, Camus, Kafka

I’ve never understood the hype around Cam Johnson. When I watch I see a low energy, limited athlete with a good not great shot from 3.
