1/ Excited to share our study @SciImmunology introducing that autosomal recessive RIPK3 deficiency impairs #CellDeath -dependent control of #herpesvirus HSV-1 in cortical neurons, underlying herpes simplex #encephalitis (HSE) #RareDiseases
1/ We are happy to share our report of inherited RIPK3 deficiency in a child with HSV-1 encephalitis (HSE) in @SciImmunology (doi.org/10.1126/sciimm…). HUGE thanks to all collaborators (list below)!
What an amazing experience riding freely in NYC with the lab! I used to love biking, but gave it up after moving to the city. Grateful for the opportunity to be part of it—huge thanks to @casanova_lab for organizing and rekindling that joy!
1/ We took the day off at the bench to participate in the NYC Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday!
I am thrilled to become the Editor of this new journal and grateful to both RUP and IAPIDS for their trust ! I also thank Megan Cooper who graciously accepted to become the Deputy Editor !
We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with the International Alliance for Primary Immunodeficiency Societies (#IAPIDS) to launch the Journal of Human Immunity (JHI) @jhumimmunity! Stay tuned for groundbreaking, #OpenAccess research on #HumanImmunity! hubs.la/Q032Q5Zt0
The latest comprehensive review of HSE is out—an absolute must-read! Packed with insights and detail, it’s worth savoring word by word. Congratulations to @ShenYingZhang1 @casanova_lab on this incredible work!
1) Delighted to share our review on Genetic Defects of Brain Immunity in Childhood Herpes Simplex Encephalitis (HSE), just out @Nature. Our expedition began in 2003, searching for monogenic defects underlying HSE. nature.com/articles/s4158…
Thanks @YunfeiAn for the invitation. The discussions were incredibly enriching, and it was wonderful to meet old friends and make new ones. Chongqing’s hospitality, especially the hotpot 🍲, was unforgettable! Looking forward to future collaborations and more shared experiences.
We are delighted to have hosted the Scientific Conference and 13th Annual School on IEI (IEI-SCAS 2024). Thanks dear Stuart Tangye, Cindy Ma, Hirokazu Kanegane, Yu-lung Lau, Qin Zhou, Yuxia Zhang, Zhiyong Liu and others to Chongqing and give us terrific lectures.
I've written a small blog post on this incredible discovery of a surprising new mechanism through which neurons in the brain resist viral infection. This is in a way reminiscent of the discovery of loss of CCR5 protecting against HIV infection, which led to the development of…
1) Just out @Nature today! We show that human TMEFF1 is a restriction factor for #Herpes simplex virus 1(HSV1) in the brain, by limiting NECTIN1—HSV1-gD mediated HSV1 entry into cortical neurons. TMEFF1 defect can underlie HSV1 #encephalitis. nature.com/articles/s4158…
Thank you, Noopur! We're are grateful for the incredible collaboration with @studerl and the @casanova_lab @ShenYingZhang1 teams. Excited for our ongoing and future projects!
Hearty congratulations to @yihaoo, @ZhiyongLiu7, @ShenYingZhang1 and the team for identifying TMEFF1 as a novel HSV-1 restriction factor. Always such an awe-inspiring science in our collaboration with the @casanova_lab.

Excited to see the work published @Nature. Excellent summary in thread below. Big collaborative effort with @ShenYingZhang1, @casanova_lab + many more. Special thanks to @yihaoo, @ZhiyongLiu7, Paul Bastard and in my lab @NoopurKhobrekar, Param Amin, @gabriele_ciceri & @harschnitz

A novel disease-causing gene of herpes simplex encephalitis ( #HSE ): #TMEFF1, which inhibits the neurological entry of HSV-1 via interacting NECTIN-1 (a key HSV-1 receptor). Thrilled to have contributed to this amazing work!
