A Leo from Chicago who annoys Republicans you say?
Germany's Mittelstand, those small regional companies doing one very specific thing very well, is considered the backbone of the economy. This principle is also the backbone of Germany's crisp/chip industry, which has a massive range of products, all of them Paprika flavour.
Imagine waiting all your life to be Chancellor, only to scrape the election, form a government with your rivals, and then fail to be confirmed as Chancellor by members of your own party. Germany doesn't do funny very often, but when it does, it's a doozy.
No idea what the plan is here. Jens Spahn is easily one of the most underwhelming, self serving politicians in Germany, and now he's been handed the leadership of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. Watch Spahn use it to increase his profile, at the detriment of everything else.
Kommentar @sternde 👇🏻 1/2

NEW 🧵 The number of people travelling from Europe to the US in recent weeks has plummeted by as much as 35%, as travellers have cancelled plans in response to Trump’s policies and rhetoric, and horror stories from the border.
Tis the season to eat Spargel in all its varied forms and you better believe #Germany takes Spargelzeit seriously. This makes things difficult for the minority who don’t like it, but is it worth incurring the wrath of the Spargel lovers? Blog Post: bit.ly/3EqncVi
People often ask me what's the fundamental difference between Britain and Germany. I can't say for certain, but I do have some ideas...

MAGA is making the claim that if you watch the entire 50 minute video, Zelensky is the antagonist. This isn't true. At all. I was with Zelensky before this meeting and it's important to know his mindset heading in. 1/ A short 🧵on how the entire ambush went down.
If you watch the full Trump-Zelensky press conference, it is very clear that Zelensky, not Trump or Vance, became the antagonist. Both POTUS and VP were very respectful and cordial until Zelensky very publicly ignited a firestorm. It all starts at 40:30 1) Zelensky essentially…
I learned to drive in Germany. My instructor was a lovely bloke called Matthias, who left me with many pearls of wisdom, especially about driving on the Autobahn. My favourite: "Remember Nic, we have as many terrible drivers as the UK, they just drive terribly at 200kmh!"
