A few of our individual winners from today's Devil Take The Hindmost session. Well done all that took part (Coach included) and Merry Christmas everyone.
Great running by our girls this morning in the combined race in Leicester which included Year 9's - Year 13's. Elena Inch (Year 11) has seen big improvements over the last 6 months and came away the winner closely followed by Isabel Richardson (Year 11) one second behind.
First and second for Zak (Year 10) and Adam (Year 11) this morning at a low key Cross Country Race in Leicester in the combined race which included Year 9's - Year 13's. Well done Boys.
Excellent running at a low key cross country race this morning in Leicester. Grace Igoe wins the combined Year 7 Boys and Girls Race comfortably looking really strong. Well done Grace. Watch out for this Girl over the next few years.
Great session at Graves Park on Saturday. 5 Reps to go and Emily telling the boys to pick it up. Looking forward to the race in Leicester this weekend where we have several athletes entered.
Great session last night in what could be the last one for a while. Fingers crossed England athletics announcement shortly will still allow us to still meet in small groups. These young athletes need running/exercise as part of their weekly routines. Fingers crossed ....
Excellent results today from three of our girls that had the chance to race in Leicestershire in an open Cross Country Race. The race was open from Year 8 - Year 13. Holly B (Year 11) 6th, Caitlin M (Year 9) 13th and Freya L (Year 9) 35th. Well done girls keep working hard.
Shake out run and strides today for our fast improving Caitlin McCloy with her mum before Saturday's Cross Country race at Prestwold Hall. She will be joined by Holly Brewster. Our only two athletes allowed to compete as they aren't in the Tier 3 covid restrictions. Good luck.
Sprinters turn last night at the newly opened @Sheffield Hallam University Athletics stadium. Very well organised again. Great session everyone.
Excellent session's last night by our distance groups and great to have the track back open in what seems like a life time .... Bring on the Cross Country race at the end of the month at Prestwold Hall.
Great session today by our Under 17 Ladies. Hoping the Yorkshire Championships go ahead in January as they all have a chance of a top 8 and representing Yorkshire at the Inter Counties. Just missing our Yorkshire Champion from last year Holly Brewster who was in Manchester racing
Winners of the 2014 Junior and Senior races at the Great Yorkshire run. Let's hope racing get's back to normal in 2021. @GemmaSteel4 and @emsysimpson
Personal best for Casey at yesterday's Trafford Open meeting over 300 metres (42.79). The time now ranks Casey 22nd for the 2020 England rankings (8th for first year Under 15's). Only 0.2 seconds away from Team Russell's Under 15 girls record set by a certain E. Simpson in 2014.
Thanks to @Richruns789 at @upandrunninguk for helping two of our younger members out with new shoes ... Keep supporting that local shop that supports local athletes. Thanks for your continued support.
Good luck to all our athletes competing over the weekend. Saturday is the open Meeting @Traff_AC and then Sunday is the Run Jump Throw meeting in Doncaster. I was then looking forward to the Northern Cross Country relays in October but unfortunately the event has been cancelled.
Well done to our Under 17's Shen and Leah who both ran personal best's at the BMC meeting over 800 metres last night in Manchester. The girls will now have a cross country season (fingers crossed) in hope of a sub 2.10 next year for Shen and 2.13 target for Leah. Well done girls
Personal best for our Under 13 Boy George at the Trafford AC Open meeting yesterday over 75 metres and Long Jump which now ranks him 2nd over 75 metres and 3rd in the Long Jump England rankings for 2020. Much more to come in the Long Jump when we nail the run up. Well done George
Great throwing (Javelin) from our Under 13 Thomas Hennessey at the Trafford AC Open meeting yesterday. A new personal best which now ranks Thomas 3rd in the UK rankings for 2020 .... Watch out for this young man over the next few years.
Big personal best from Shen at the Trafford AC open meeting yesterday ... Still not quite hitting the times we know she is capable of and the training is suggesting. Still very new to 1500's. Who would have thought it a year ago we would have Shen running anything but 800's.
Slightly misjudged race yesterday for Leah at the Trafford AC Open meeting over 800 metres. A few more races this year. Patience is key as this girl is in great shape and when it clicks in a race a big personal best we will see.
