One of the biggest lie while learning textbook biology: "all your cells contain the same genome"! F**k no.
Correlation is not causation, TRUE. But studying causation in a multi-variate interaction system (particularly biological) is also NOT TRIVIAL. X causes Y but exactly how, no one knows! Important is acknowledge this bias...
"Nothing in Biology Makes Sense Except in the Light of Evolution" ...and nothing in evolution makes sense except in the light of statistics!
Regression towards the mean: a statistical concept that applies to all forms of human behavior.
Biological research needs theories. Urgently and ultimately. Observations are always confounded from unknown variables and their combinations. On such a multi-dimensional variable interaction sphere, infinite possibilities can explain the same observation.
Dear @DB_Bahn, how do you manage to always f*** up in some unique way? Like I mean how???
'I don't fear death, I love life' — @bryan_johnson keep up the craziness Maybe someday they will prove the most important anti-aging therapy is the will to live!
Not a surprise :)
Researchers studying ageing disagree on just about everything — including what ageing is, whether it is a disease and when it starts nature.com/articles/d4158…
A step towards better healthcare! Cheers 🍻
FLI Team Achieves Success in International DREAM Challenge on Placental Aging. 🎉 Team ANTS from the @Leibniz_FLI in #Jena achieved second place in the global Placental Clock DREAM Challenge. 🥈 Congratulations! Read more: bit.ly/3D0Yf1L
Well justified Ig nobel for aging field. The amount of over-representation bullshit has increased exponentially in the last few years! theconversation.com/the-data-on-ex… P.S: Also, please don't tell anymore that centenarians (aka ghosts) do this for longevity so is probably healthy...
#Genome of #Greenland #shark #decoded ‼️ An international team of #scientists, including Steve Hoffmann and @Alessan82703458 from the @LeibnizFLI, has mapped this Shark’s genome. 👉More information: bit.ly/4gkAGA8 👉bit.ly/3B0csek
Enriching experience at CSAMA2024 summer school for biological data science. Thanks #bioconductor society for organizing this and hosting us at beautiful #bressanone, Italy. It was a pleasure to learn directly from developers of R, and other various helpful tools!
Finally! Our study about nonlinear DNA methylation trajectories during aging is out at @NatureComms! We have discovered two sudden hypermethylation switches during early-to-midlife and mid-to-late-life stage. (1/4) rdcu.be/dEj0g
