If my patient tells me a ghost story, I don’t contradict them. In grief, we keep them alive to stay alive. Our homes are torn asunder but our bodies become home for the dead, that they may live. I don’t believe in moving on. I move with. Alongside. I do not leave a soul behind.
Sometimes I think our methods for self-care are just ways to tolerate a world we never should tolerate. Self-care feels like an extension of our world machine. So I don’t know. I just feel everything. It hurts. I fall apart. I cannot give a soundbite answer.
Local cultus is one of the joys of polytheistic practice! It is what takes us from mere observers of canon to active participants in the mytho-poetic cycles of our gods and spirits. In my eyes, it is THE labor of love and the ultimate act of devotion.
Your practice is unique to your region, local deities, personal gods and spirits, and individual needs and disposition. What you do is bound to look different from what others do, even in the same tradition. Offer the service that's right for where you're at right now. Right now.
And seeing all this, my conclusion remains the same: 1) I long for peace, 2) I long for the liberation of oppressed people, and 3) I mourn and grieve and lament any and every loss.
Is your path playing at historical reenactment or live action role playing, or are you engaging living gods who are always present and meeting you right where you are in your service? The Gods are always in the present, and what satisfies Them is what becomes tradition. Listen.
Fear? Devotion. Hatred? Devotion. Depression? Devotion. Uncertainty? Devition. Time and time again, devotion has shown me a path to wholeness and wellness, to generosity and abundance. Devotion as our practice is service that makes every moment part of the Gods and Their boons.

Sacred service isn't really about things, but actions, what we actually do for the Gods, how we live our life in each moment to embody the highest ideals we believe. These must become the root of how we interact with the world, otherwise our beautiful offerings amount to nothing.

Sacred artists, the way toward mastery is to never reach satisfaction in your work to the point of complacency, where you cease struggling to refine your gifts and your service in the eyes of the Gods. Perfection is never attainable, but it is our craft to strive for it anyway.

Major trans news. I warned, repeatedly, that drag bans would be applied to trans speakers. A trans public speaker was just banned from delivering a reading and speech in the Butte Public Library on LGBTQ history in Montana. They cited the drag ban.
As we navigate life's pain and suffering, the Gods walk with us, and it is through the strength of our practice that we draw the Powers closer to us. Whatever our practice looks like, it is simply that which brings the Gods directly into the present moment as we live our life.
