We figured out a way to make it metric neutral—but it had to go through a lot of iterations. Credit to @alxkikalia

Now, when randomly-selected raters responding to "needs your help" notifications rate a note very differently than self-selected raters, the randomly-sampled raters can override the self-selected ones. Big props to @NikilSelvam for spearheading this project this summer!!

A new way to increase robustness to manipulation. Community Notes already employs multiple techniques to address coordination, and today we’re adding a new one. If a would-be Helpful note receives a significantly lower score from randomly-sampled raters (who rated a note because…

Links didn't deboost your post. Next time, you should've highlighted the relevant excerpt for the smooth brains. Having said that, give me 7 days RE: links. Almost there.

Circles, how do they work?

We just released a new tool available over the (free) Community Note Writers API! It should help with one of AI’s biggest weaknesses: knowing when a note is needed

AI Note Writing API Update: A tool to improve the quality of proposed notes Early AI Note Writers have written numerous notes that have been found broadly helpful by people from different perspectives, but we’ve also observed that they sometimes write notes people find not…

The people yelling for civil war on social media are extremists who are out of touch with what 99% of people actually want.

We have measured support for partisan murder for the last 3 years. Following Kirk's assassination support dropped to ~*1%* from around 3% in the weeks before. True for Democrats, Republicans and even MAGA Republicans. Americans reject political violence.

Need community notes on supplement labels too

Researchers showed people fake supplement labels. When a fish oil label said "supports heart health," 63% of people thought it would reduce heart attack risk, up from a baseline of 54%. When it had an actual FDA-approved health claim? 60%.

All the anecdotes and screenshots of cherry picked posts were bugging me—finally some real analysis! 1) Overall, only a small percentage of posts on either platform approved of the death or called for violence 2) Definitely a higher % on X denouncing violence. But 0 calls for…

This whole tylenol/autism thing is bipartisanly disliked. Real stupid. If "posts liked by people who typically disagree" was a thing yet, I guarantee you'd see it on this post

Isn't that wild? Tylenol, introduced in 1955, caused no rise until the DSM-III added autism and the government started paying schools to diagnose kids. 25-year-lag makes a lot of biological sense, right?

Seems like we need community notes on substack @cjgbest

The Left's favorite historian, Substack writer Heather Cox Richardson, refuses to correct her false claims that Tyler Robinson "embraced the far right." She's now defending her statements, and accusing her conservative critics of "perverted attacks." freebeacon.com/media/substack…
