Been off A6 OS for some time again. 2017 has been a relatively low-progress year. That said, the goal for year-end is to get an A6 OS build packaged as SysEx and installed on my A6.
Today, working on a newer A6 SysEx encoder/decoder tool, implemented in the Rust language instead of Ruby.
Since last update, got pulled off on work again and haven't touched A6 OS in some time. Now hopefully back on again.
Been stuck on a crunch period with the day job. Hopefully over now, and I can get back to A6 exploration.
Still deciphering the LFO update function. Today, trying to understand how the interrupts and clock ticks determine the timing.
Mod engine exploration continues. In LFOs now. Today, a break to fill out some unknown spots in the NVRAM.
OK, understanding the modulation interrupt handler(s!) is going to take a *lot* of time. Expect sparse updates while this is in progress.
Translating modulation engine code. Specifically, the main modulation interrupt handler.
Started investigating the core modulation engine. Just *maybe*, I have enough info to make sense of it.
Have identified all code and data related to the digital effects. Moving on to some other area.
Adding the identified FX-related code/data to the build. Skipping disassembly; just want to mark this as 'known' so I can focus elsewhere.
Finished identifying data structures for every effects algorithm. Surprised by how small some of the algos are, in terms of DSP opcodes.
Currently identifying the data, CPU code, and DSP code for each effects algorithm, mainly to call effects "done" and move on.
Captured some front-panel controller firmware updates that are applied at boot time.
Have been learning about DSP programming. Read the datasheet for a DSP chip that hopefully is related to the chip in the A6.
