“Even if a mountain explodes, nothing happens, and the heart is like calm water. Then the body is very stable.” — Chen Bing “Look three times a day into your inner self.” — Chinese proverb
Ok that was fantastic. I have multiple E-ink 32" displays wired up to AI image gen, and an LLM to tell the image gen what to draw. I told gemma 3 to 'make art but be critical of society'. I need a tiny e-ink to the bottom stating the prompt. This is so fun.
Small post about «object-centred editing» from @LukeW
«The secret isn't just building more powerful AI. It's designing better systems for humans and AIs to reason, create, and build together.»
1/13 You know that frustrating feeling? You're using an AI coding assistant, but instead of flying, you're just... stuck. It generates weird code, you spend ages debugging it, and you start to wonder if you're actually slower than before. It turns out you're not crazy. 2/13 A…

The "Reasoning Pattern": The One Thing Your LLM Is Missing AI companies are spending millions on a huge, expensive mistake. They're paying armies of people to teach AI how to "think," step-by-step. A new paper reveals there's a way to get the same results for a fraction of the…
Very cool generated ebooks in multiple languages side by side @houshuang ! Perfect for immersing in or learning new languages!
1’20 hour train to Oslo. Read some Icelandic, Latin, ancient and modern Greek. Feels very productive and calm. Now to start the workday.
Similar to unselfing I think, I love this paragraph from Bertrand Russell. The human existence should be like a river, small and narrow at first. gradually growing wider and merging with the large sea
What if you could build a product as powerful as Google Cloud, without the centralized servers? That is the question we're trying to answer. Here's DXOS founder @richburdon discussing how we got here.
Johannes is a great host, and this was a fun discussion. Check it out & spread the word about localfirst.fm! The blog post we walk through is mattweidner.com/2024/06/04/ser…
Episode #14 is out. Matthew Weidner (@MatthewWeidner3) on architectures for central server collaboration including CRDT, OT and event-sourcing.
I think this is hands down the best SVG editor. Seeing the code as you draw is a game-changer—it teaches you how SVG really works while you create and gives you a chance to make your creations generative.
😱 I just realized I never shared the svg tool I spent so much time on! I wanted to create a playground to help learn and discover how to write SVG code, which can be so funky! Remember when we learned physics in the sandbox? Yeah, like that.
All my working life there have been areas of software I was told were dark magic and best avoided. Don't build an operating system. Don't build your own crypto. Don't build a database. Don't build your own game engine. Etc. While I get that in the normal course of business,…

This is basically a pre-announcement / call for collaborators. - @OrionReedOne is based in Europe and so wants to do one there - Berlin feels like a good spot for this - Sept/Oct/Nov timeframe gives us just enough time to do 150-200 people, 2 day conf
Myself and @bmann are putting together a tentative plan for a @causalislands conference in Berlin between Sept-Nov. Looking for co-organisers, sponsors, etc. If you want to help organise “the future of computing conference”, DM me or hop into the discord: discord.gg/eGZnSpjT
crude and dirty distance fields in @tldraw. Here's a couple different functions (min distance and weighted distance) VERY slow right now, if anyone wants to parallelise this or do it on the GPU or whatever, that would be cool! github.com/OrionReed/tldr…
Monopoly - I didn't know this! (You'll never look at the game the same way again!) Starting in 1941, an increasing number of British Airmen found themselves as the involuntary guests of the Third Reich, and the Crown was casting about for ways and means to facilitate their…
This happens all the time when I’m traveling and charging in +90% humidity countries. The sizzling feeling on my wrists. Was even worse with the 16” Intel MBP Does this happen to you too?
