Some think nursing is common sense, a trait you're born with, that the caring woman next door can do it and that kindness and compassion are what is required. While these are important, nurses must also be analytical, creative, competent and the critical consumers of research.

Great webinar from @TvnRolland, Chris Borge and Astrid Fremau on the importance of using real world evidence for clinical practice. Will take the knowledge to my next student placement at QEUH vascular ward! #Flenhealth #nursing #clinicalpractice #studentnurse #GCU

A massive thank you to Stobhill ward B for taking me under your wing! Such an amazing team of compassionate nurses who truly make you feel at home. I’ll be back for some bank shifts 👀❤️ (if you’re reading this and ever see the ward needing staff, take a shift! Truly amazing team)

Completely agree….I am very excited about the Continuous Interventions for Stress and Distress pilot in @NHSGGC. It is a huge culture shift but absolutely the right thing to do and something I believe in with all my heart! #DAW2023

My wish for #DementiaAwarenessWeek - a move away from “violence and aggression” training to imbed principles of stress and distress management. The majority of those whom we care for are distressed due to an unmet need, not a desire to be violent or agressive

Why is there no older adult and #dementia specific nursing programme? How long can we go on pretending that general adult nursing skills and competencies are fully transferable to this cohort of individuals. They simply are not.

Really interesting article in the @NurseStandard this month. End of life care in a forensic setting and how vital it is to be non judgmental in every setting. Treating every patient with compassion #PUNC21 #FutureNurse #StudentNurse #NursingStudent

A welfare pack like this, for wards at a (home bargains) cost of £4.39. This would be for staff who’ve had to stay late or sleep in for the next shift or forgotten food. Useful or not? Just testing the water…@NHSGrampian @NHSG_RACH @carolinere_d @sue_danby @KAuchnie

What an absolute disgrace. Trans women accessing healthcare should be able to access this in a safe and inclusive way. The exclusion from the strategy by the @DHSCgovuk is yet another was the trans community are being left behind in healthcare. This is NOT acceptable!

The deliberate erasure of trans women from the @DHSCgovuk Women’s Health Strategy published today should be making EVERY medic who calls themselves an ally sit up and call this out. Your self-named allyship means nothing if you don’t challenge these issues #MedTwitter

Organisations can no longer rely on top-down problem solving. As leaders, we have to build a culture of learning & adaptability; to bring many, diverse perspectives to challenges, to feel safe to experiment & fail, to keep learning along the way:qaspire.com/2022/07/06/lea… By @tnvora

Stripping back elements of an activity may improve outcomes. For example, someone with dementia can find talking whilst concentrating on walking tricky. Sit together, face each other. Focus solely on talking to improve the chat #WithSLTuCan
